My husband and I have been married for 12 years and haven’t celebrated our anniversaries other than a meal out. With the new home being built, I thought it would be nice to decorate with some symbolic things, and I wanted to go back through our milestones and display them in some way.
Traditional Symbol: Paper
The threads within the paper symbolize the strength and connectivity of your blossoming relationship. Paper is also a blank slate, referencing the beginnings of a new life together.
Modern Symbol: Clock
The clock represents the movement of time, and with time comes good times, change, and challenges. Time is precious, just like your relationship.
Metal Symbol: Gold
Gold symbolizes the golden glow of your first year together.
Flower: Carnations
Carnations symbolize affection, the same affection you have for your better half. They represent passion and young love—a fitting comparison to your new marriage. While they come in many different colours, we recommend looking specifically for light red and pink carnations since they are most commonly associated with Love and admiration.
Colour: Yellow
Yellow is a vivid colour that is frequently associated with pleasure and vitality. As a result, for couples that seek a long and happy marriage, a yellow wedding theme is an ideal choice. Yellow is a vibrant colour that lends life to any space and is perfect for establishing the tone for a happy celebration.
I chose to go with a golden wall clock, golden watch bands for my husband and me along with a portrait of our earliest photo together. I think he is going to love these and would make a lovely addition to our home.
